-How I act-

Personality
A rather light-hearted young woman, Hafwyn enjoys her simple life. She delights in her three soon to be four children and her loving husband. It is often difficult for her as she is not of Scottish or Irish descent as those around her; and she hates the stares her darker skin receives. Still, she always tried to be patient and caring of those around her, regardless of how they treat her. Very religious, she dutifully prays each morning and night, having done so since she was a small child. Back then, she used to pray for blue eyes and blonde hair like her older sister and white skin like her mother. But when her mother heard her ardent prayer one night and took her aside to assure her that she was beautiful just the way she was, Hafwyn stopped praying for physical changes.
She has a very strong relationship with her mother as they share a friendship as well as mother/daughter bond. Often she lets her own house work be forgotten to help her mother with hers, something that her husband used to complain about until he finally began to understand the reasoning behind it.
Often over curious, she pries into many things best left alone and has a tendency to fall into trouble she could have avoided in the first place.

Around Family/Friends
She greatly loves her children, rarely seen without at least one of them as she goes about her chores or shopping. There are many in the town who consider her a friend as she is friendly enough and many more have known her from early childhood. The shortest way to her heart is through her children or parents, as friends of them are instant friends of hers. She greatly enjoys cooking for her husband, experimenting with various desserts for him.
Although she gets along with her siblings, often she is annoyed by Ianthe's vain airs and Adrian's behaviour toward their father has made her dislike him. Her father and her have a rather interesting relationship, due to the years that he had no memory. Though she loves him deeply and goes out of her way to defend him, she has yet to forgive him for the pain he unknowingly inflicted on his family.

Around Enemies
Quick to defend her friends/family, Hafwyn treats anyone who would dare to hurt any of them with unveiled disgust and hatred. She tries her best to be merciful to those who are personal enemies but if anyone steps over the line and involves members of her family, such merciful thoughts fly out the nearest window.

Usual Mood around strangers:
Used to people treating her differently because of her appearance, Hafwyn is careful to not judge others at first glance. She tries her best to be friendly, but often comes across as slightly defensive. When nervous she talks excessively and has a tendency to giggle at odd times. Her husband finds this rather cute, though her eldest brother refers to it as "Giggle-Chat'.

-History-

Your Story Please?
Born to the wealthy magical couple, Isaac and Isadora Ludwane, Hafwyn began her life as Macaria. She was deeply loved by her parents, since she was their only child. Each night her mother lovingly dressed her and laid her within her crib, whispering magical charms to protect her from any evil. There was however one evil that no amount of magic could protect her from... Isaac, heavily in debt from his business failures, sold his home and signed a binding contract that his life would be taken should he not pay back his creditors by the end of the year.

That time came and passed without a galleon being added to the Ludwane's pockets. But instead of killing Isaac as had been the promise, the main creditor, a Henry Jamson, demanded the little girl, Macaria, as the price. Her parents refused and Isaac begged Henry to kill him and be done with it. Refusing to take anything but the child, Henry organized a band of friends and they attacked the Ludwane Manor. In the fight, Isaac was injured and Isadora hid with her daughter in the attic. The door was knocked down and the infant was torn from her screaming mother's arms. Vanishing into the night, it would be 26 years before they saw their darling again.
Friends of Issac, including Cairbre Gryffindor, arrived in time to save the couple from the angry attackers. Henry was killed as were several others. By magical law, the debt was cancelled as Henry had attacked Isaac... but the couple were too saddened by the loss of their daughter to really care.
For though they sought her with all diligence, none knew who had taken her or where.

Only a year old, wrapped tightly in her blankets and afraid, the little girl wailed her frustrations to a weary moon overhead and the occasional curious cat that sniffed at her. She had been abandoned by the side of the road, the reasons unknown. The creak of many wagon wheels whispered into her keen ears and soon her baby wails reverberated through the air once again.

A travelling band of performers, many of them kind-hearted, gathered up the child and cared for her. A lone figure watched the wagons creak on, emotionless as the child was saved.

Although not loved, the child was treated kindly enough. There were many orphaned children taken in by the gypsies, each learning how to earn a living as soon as they could walk. The 'art' of pick-pocketing along with juggling.

She was nearly four, filthy by habit, when her hand was caught as she sought to steal from a young man. Afraid, she screamed and struggled as he gently seized her shoulders. The crowd laughed and gave suggestions, most of them saying to beat her for her crime or near crime. But the young man ignored them and led her away from the jeering mass. He said his name was James Vartouhi and soon he took her to see the family he had.

He was kind, even more so than the kindest of the gypsies and she immediately liked him as he gave her some bread and fish. His father and brother and sister were surprised to see her when James brought her over to see them and she hid behind his leg, wide eyes staring up at the huge man that was Ragnar Vartouhi. They asked her name, which she didn't know and then they took her home.

It was the prettiest house, the little girl had ever seen and she said as much more so by her gapping mouth and huge eyes. Still unable to mutter a word in her fear, surprise and shyness, she was taken in and set at a table. Then the atmosphere was altered as everyone seemed anxious as they awaited some unknown happening. She nibbled away at the apple they had given her and failed to see the woman enter the room until she heard a soft gasp.

Quickly introduced to James' mother, she took an immediate liking to the gentle woman and was soon washed, dressed and sleeping peacefully in the bed upstairs. Unknown to her at the time, the family discussed her presence at that time and after it came to their attention that she was an orphan or at least in the eyes of the gypsies, they decided to keep her as a daughter.

They named her Hafwyn and in the following months that she lived with them, she forgot she had ever slept in the back of a bumpy wagon or ate a single chunk of bread a day, if that. She forgot that once upon a time there had been no brothers to help her up and down ladders, no sister to help her wash dishes or dress herself. No father to kiss her forehead and tickle her stomach. No mother to embrace her and murmur how much she was loved.

From the first day she was brought to them, no child was as quickly welcomed into a family as little Hafwyn. Ragnar and Agnotha loved her as deeply as their other children, telling her so often that she could very well have become quite spoilt.

She grew into a very beautiful young woman, attracting the attention of many handsome suiters before she was even twelve.

Ragnar's loss of memory hurt her deeply; as she hated how he hid himself away from her and her family. Her dear father was her favourite of all men, with only James and Adrian the possible seconds. She spent many tearful nights crying away pain at the injustice that seemed to enshroud her family. So many deaths of young infants never heard and the continuing failed memory of the beloved patriarch.

She had found her mother, pregnant with what would be her final child, having gone into labour. The image of her lying in a pool of blood, lips blue and body trembling was imprinted forever in the young woman's mind. Also the small stiff infant they had buried beside so many others. Unheard, unseen and she remembered for the father who had forgotten and for her mother who was in desperate need of comfort.

Five years of pain and trouble whispered by. There was the occasional joy that born nephews and nieces brought, but Hafwyn felt deeply troubled every time she looked to her silent father. Unable to bear his father's failings, Adrian left for the army. His departure was another blow, but the rends his leaving made were slowly healed as he kept in close contact through detailed letters. Now fifteen, Hafwyn noticed the complete devotion of a certain Bruis Dane and allowed herself to return his affections.

They enjoyed a several month courtship, walking by the sweet streams of the forest and stealing forbidden kisses by the willow of the lake. He requested her hand from Agnotha, who gave it happily. James congratulated his sister as did Ianthe, but Adrian was unable to attend their beautiful wedding.

Bruis held her tightly their marriage night, telling her the wonderful plans he had for their new house. And she listened, enraptured with the delight of the thoughtful man she had married. But after a thorough discussion, they choose to put off the building of the house, seeing the need of someone to stay with Agnotha. Ragnar still had yet to regain his memory and James and Ianthe had moved from the house long ago to live with their spouses and growing broods of children.

A year into their marriage, Hafwyn delivered a healthy baby boy. Delighted, the happy parents named him Christoffer, after Ragnar, since it was his middle name. Hafwyn loved to stand by the door of the room and watch Bruis hover over the crib, murmuring to his new son. He adored to hold the child, not carrying how the women of the village laughed at the grown man playing with the infant.
